About Nicole McKoy
Strategy that understands both the mission and the realities of carrying it out.
Impact Logic was founded on a straightforward premise: Mission alone does not produce impact. Impact grows when mission is translated into clear priorities, aligned ways of working, responsible stewardship, and intentional learning.
Impact begins at home.
The impact an organization hopes to create externally is shaped by how it works internally. Clear expectations, thoughtful decisions, supportive systems, and responsible stewardship create stronger conditions for people to carry the mission forward.
Clarity and Capacity Principle
People are best positioned to succeed when mission, vision, and expectations are translated into clear, supportive ways of working. Impact Logic builds on what is already working and strengthens the systems, support, and operating conditions that help people contribute their best and carry the mission forward.
That means looking at how clearly priorities, roles, decisions, expectations, information, and ways of working connect across the organization. It also means considering whether people have the tools, authority, resources, and support they need to contribute well. The goal is to build from the organization's strengths and create greater clarity and capacity in service of the mission.
Nicole McKoy, MSW Founder
Nicole McKoy is the Founder and Operational Strategy Consultant at Impact Logic Consulting. She brings more than 25 years of experience across nonprofit management, social work, community development, strategic operations, project management, systems improvement, and corporate special projects.
Her background includes leadership inside mission-driven organizations, giving her firsthand knowledge of what happens when meaningful work is made harder by unclear roles, concentrated knowledge, inconsistent processes, or systems that no longer support the people doing the work. She has also seen what becomes possible when roles are clear, decisions are made at the right level, and staff understand how their work connects to the mission: organizations become more stable, more effective, and better able to serve the people who depend on them.
Nicole earned her Master of Social Work from the Brown School at Washington University in St. Louis, with a concentration in Social and Economic Development with a specialization in Management. That foundation, combined with her years of organizational leadership, informs an approach to operating design that is both strategic and deeply human. Her work connects purpose, people, systems, decision-making, and execution so organizations can operate in ways that better reflect the missions they exist to advance.
What Grounds This Work
Nicole founded Impact Logic because she has seen how much committed people can be asked to carry when roles, decisions, expectations, and systems are unclear. She has also seen what becomes possible when people understand what they are working toward, decisions happen at the right level, and the organization provides the structure and support people need to do their work well.
She believes organizations of different sizes deserve to be understood in context instead of forced into a standardized operating model that may not fit their work, capacity, or resources.
Her goal is to help organizations strengthen the conditions behind their missions in a way that is practical, respectful, and responsible. That means listening carefully, observing keenly, understanding what is already working, being transparent about what the work requires, and recommending support that fits the organization’s needs, readiness, and capacity.
"If the mission matters, how the organization operates should matter too."
— Nicole McKoy, Founder
How Nicole works
Every engagement begins with careful listening. Before any recommendations are made, Nicole works to understand the organization's history, its leadership structure, its current challenges, and the pressures it is navigating.
Diagnosis before prescription
No two organizations face exactly the same challenge, even when the symptoms look similar. Nicole does not arrive with predetermined answers. She works to understand what is actually happening before recommending what to do about it.
Practical over theoretical
The deliverables from an Impact Logic engagement are designed to be used — not filed away. Operating playbooks, role clarity documents, and workflow maps are built to function as working tools for the organization's leadership and staff.
Honest about fit
Not every organization is ready for this kind of work, and not every challenge is the right match for what Impact Logic offers. Nicole is direct about both — before an engagement begins and throughout the process.
Respectful of the mission
Operational work in mission-driven organizations is not value-neutral. The way an organization structures its work, distributes authority, and supports its people either reinforces or undermines its mission. Nicole keeps that connection visible throughout the engagement.
The Impact Logic Approach
Impact Logic engagements are structured, time-limited, and focused on producing clear deliverables. The work is done in close collaboration with organizational leadership. Nicole is the lead consultant on every engagement.
Structured discovery to understand the organization's current state
Collaborative analysis with leadership to identify root causes, not just symptoms
Clear, written deliverables that the organization can use and build on
Implementation support to help leadership put the work into practice
Honest assessment of readiness, fit, and next steps throughout
What guides the work
Mission integrity
Operational decisions are not separate from mission. How an organization structures its work, distributes authority, and supports its people either reinforces or undermines what it exists to do.
Stewardship
Mission-driven organizations are accountable to the people they serve, the funders who support them, and the communities they are part of. Operational clarity is a form of stewardship.
Clarity
Ambiguity is expensive. Clear roles, clear decisions, and clear processes reduce friction, protect staff, and free up leadership to focus on what matters most.
Alignment
Strategy and operations must point in the same direction. When they do not, the gap between what an organization says it values and how it actually functions becomes visible — to staff, to clients, and to funders.
Dignity
The people carrying out the work deserve clear expectations, adequate support, and the authority to do their jobs well. Operating design that ignores this produces turnover, burnout, and mission drift.
Our Moonshot
A world where every organization's operations reflect its mission.
